BREAD PUDDING

HISTORY

Bread pudding is a dessert popular in British cuisine and that of the Southern U.S., as well as Belgian and French cuisine. The French refer to it by the English name "pudding" without the word "bread" and the Belgians call it Bodding. It is also referred to as "Migas" in Spanish. It is made using stale (usually left-over) bread, suet, egg, sugar or golden syrup, spices, and dried fruit.

I love bread pudding; Pullman bread or baguette, eggs, milk, rum (optional), sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, raisins(optional), cream cheese; soak the raisins in the rum; cut bread into bite size pieces, put bread in baking dish; combine wet and dry ingredients and pour over the bread; bake on 275 until the middle of the pudding sets. Some people cover it while baking, some do not. TOPPING: soften the cream cheese w/sugar and rum heat it thoroughly and pour over finished bread pudding or use it for dipping, ENJOY!

In a restaurant that I formerly worked in we used day old donuts, and muffins, and just about anything that we had left over and then mixed up eggs, cream, and brown sugar and mixed that up into all of the cut up sweets, no raisins though

There is a bread pudding that I think you would like. My grandpa used to make it during the Lenten season. Its called caputapa (sp?) he used day old bread broken into cubes, raisins, cheese cubes, tea and cinnamon sticks. You bake it, but I don't remember how long. But I can tell you that the raisins get plump and cheese brings out a little of the savory along with the sweet! So good!

I love bread pudding, but not with raisins. Google for recipes and if you find one from the Golden Nugget Casino in Las Vegas try that one. I have had their bread pudding a couple times when I was there and they use to give out the recipe
