EDUCATION:

Lois Boulgarides did  undergraduate work in Kinesiology and Physical Therapy at UCLA and UCSF (1977).  She has her Masters of Science in Kinesiology from CSUS (2001) and her Post-Professional Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Massachusetts General Hospital Institute for Health Professionals (2006).

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Dr. Boulgarides has worked in the field of physical therapy since 1977. Her areas of expertise are in Orthopedic Physical Therapy and Older Adult Fitness.   She has taught professional level courses on evaluation and treatment of the spine, sacroiliac joint, wrist, and shoulder. Dr. Boulgarides was a guest lecturer at the CSU Northridge Physical Therapy School from 1981-1985 and has taught in the Kinesiology Department at Sacramento State since 1997. 

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES:

Dr. Boulgarides is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, and the Geriatrics and Orthopedics Sections of the APTA. She is an Assembly Representative for the Northeast District of the California Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association

RESEARCH INTERESTS:

Prediction and reduction of fall risk in older adults.

How older and compromised adults learn new motor skills

The effects of Yoga on functional ability and quality of life of individuals with Parkinson's Disease
