I beagan photographing landscapes, for practice, while learning how to compose portraits of the desert and mountains in San Diego. I moved up to photographing California ghost towns, mountains and old mining camps in the Sierra foothills.I practiced with natural lighting. When I came across some bones, one day, I decided that I wanted to "shoot" crime scenes. The bones were not human.

This photo was taken by the late Edward S. Curtis, who is very well known for his beautiful work of the Native Americans. Most of his photos are the last scenes of these indigenous people. more information
