Textbook :
Calculus: Early Transcendentals 6e by James Stewart.
Suggested material: The mathematical software Maple will be used in the classroom to visualize fundamental concepts.
Prerequisites: Must have passing grade on Math030. Print your grade from MySacState and show it to me during the first week.
Homework will be assigned at the beginning of each week and is due the following week on Wednesday at 8am. No late homework will be accepted.
The homework problems will be assigned and must be submitted through the online homework system “Webassign”.
There are no special hardware or software requirements to log in to Webassign. You need a computer, PC or Mac with internet connection and an internet browser as Internet Explorer, Firefox or Safari. Computers in our campus computer labs are suitable for this task.
You will have to self enroll for Webassign. The class key is csus 6207 5484.
Choose your user name as your last name followed by the last four digits of
your student ID number. The institution name is csus.
An access code is required for a semester long access into Webassign. You have two weeks to introduce the access code. The semester fee is $35 and can be paid online when you log in, or bundled with a new textbook. Visit the Math Department's webpage and follow the link to the textbooks info page. More options will be discussed in the class.
Practice problems will be assigned weakly through Webassign. They won’t be graded, but are essential in understanding the concepts and preparing for the exams.
Grades are based on:
· Homework: 15%
· Exam 1: 25%
· Exam 2: 25%
· Final Exam: 35%
The Homework Grade is computed by dropping the lowest 3 grades.
The Final Exam is mandatory and comprehensive. If your Final Exam's grade is higher than the lowest of the two midterm grades, then the lowest midterm grade will be replaced by the Final Exam's grade.
