Preparations
Before checking out the preparations page, we recommend that you check out the beachwear page for a specific list of our favorite must haves for the beach. So now that we have proper beachwear, it’s time to outline a few suggestions on how to be even more ready for your day at the beach. Check out the links page for our favorite places to pick up some of these items.
Sunscreen:
Because
skin cancer is one of the leading causes of death in the U.S. it is
important to use a sunblock with an SPF of 30 or more in order to protect your
body from the suns harmful UVA & UVB rays. If you plan on swimming this
summer use a waterproof sunblock. All of these precautionary steps will
protect you from getting burned, but more importantly from getting skin cancer.
Food and Water:
Keeping your body nourished and hydrated is extremely important when exposing
yourself to the heat. Bringing snacks suck as trail mix, dried fruit, etc.
will help give you energy throughout the day. More importantly, drinking
plenty of water will prevent you from getting dehydrated, and will help
replenish your body's resources. Heat stroke is very easy to fall
susceptible to at the beach if you are not well prepared.
Comfort:
Whether you are going to relax on the beach, swim or suntan, you might want to
bring a few different items so you can be comfortable no matter what you decide
to do. A few suggestions include:
Blanket
Extra long beach towel
Lawn chair
Reclining tanning chair
