~Why budget cuts are unnecessary~

An article published March19, 2008 in the Sacramento Bee covers some of how the budget cuts will affect the CSU education system. CSUS President Alexander Gonzales spoke at California State University, Sacramento on March 18, 2008 to talk about how these budget cuts will affect both students and the local economy. This would cause the CSU system to degrade according to President Gonzales.

The CSU education system has been hit hard with California’s past budget cuts and it will become worse if they continue.  These cuts affect millions of individuals in the CSU education system and have been making it more difficult for everyone.  If these budget cuts persist, the amount of classes offered will be reduced and tuition keeps rising in order to make up for some of these cuts.  In turn, these factors make it more difficult for students to get into the CSU system and stay in it until they graduate.  Because everyone, including students, faculty, and parents are affected, California’s economy will be affected as well.

Fortunately, there are always possible solutions to help this problem so it doesn't happen or at least to the extent that it does. The first step in doing anything about the CSU budget cut problem is to inform anyone and everyone about it. From here, we may be able to actually accomplish something in order to help.
