Tai Chi Chuan

Taichi (Tai *tie - Chi *gee) is a Chinese martial art that promotes health and reduces stress. Tai Chi emphasizes relaxation, meditation, self-cultivation, and inner calm rather than outer strength. The class focuses on mind/body/spirtual harmony through balancing body energy (chi). Students will learn Tai Chi forms, Qigong exercises, Wushu stance practice and Push hands (Tui Shou). A modest explaination of self-defense application is also taught. There are no prerequisites to take beginning or intermediate classes.

Tae Kwon do

Taekwondo (Ta' kwon do) is a Korean rooted martial art that promotes health and develops a strong mind and strong physical body. It is a defensive martial art that teaches how to neutralize against any attack situation. Taekwondo emphasizes punching, kicking, throwing, falling, and release techniques that are practical and useful for self-defense. The development of these skills and techniques will lead to balancing one's mind and body and in turn will enhance spiritual growth. There are no prerequisites to take beginning or intermediate classes.

 

 

 

 

 

Judo

The word JUDO (pronounced joo-dough) means "gentle way". Based on principles of Jujutsu, the founder Jigoro
Kano integrated the best of throws and grappling techniques to teach a competetive sport that is a useful art of self-defense. Two players grab and throw each other using a combination of technique and strategy. The art of Judo not only emphasized physical training but moral and intellectual training as well. There are no prerequisites to take this class.

Self Defense & Conditioning

Excellent class to prepare youself to fight off an attacker. Learn controlled street fighting, theory of why women do not fight back, taking the fight to the ground and escaping from being pinned, choked, headlocked and overpowered. Mental training to overcome your attacker. Psychological preparation against attacker bigger than you. Physical conditioning just enough to be challenging and give you confidence to fight and win. Take your Fear and turn it into your weapon "ANGER". How to avoid having to make it physical with simple strategies of using your brain and using your voice.
