Review-Star Trek Nemesis

My Rating 2.5 out of 5

Well I saw Star Trek: Nemesis which is the 10th Star Trek film ever made in 31 yrs. The movie opening was better than the most lately because it showed moving stars like in the original 6 films but was very short. The movie starts with quickly moving to Romulus by showing the planet and then moving into the senate. It was a quick political scene and then they all die. It then moves to Jean-Luc's face and he gives a speech at Will and Dianna's wedding reception. It does show Wesley Crusher and Guinan and she has 1 line. The Enterprise is sent to Romulus to see the Preator Shinzon who is Picard's clone. The movie is cut badly and is very boring, It uses speech from Star Trek 2,3,6 which is very cliché. The story reminds me of a badly done Star Trek 2.  Star Trek 2 starts with a training exercise while Nemesis starts with the wedding and Star Trek 2 then goes to Khan and then the battle and then retreat and then when things are down Spock risks himself to save the ship. While in Nemesis it goes to Shinzon and then they battle and Enterprise retreats and when things are about to end Data risks himself to save the ship and earth. Genesis and Tholoron Radiation are the same type of stupid weapon. Some speech would be like "Absent Friends". I thought that there should be a scene where Will gives Picard a book which is the Tale of Two Cities and he reads the same quote "It was the best of times it was the worst of times" so that the best of times was the wedding and the worst is a damaged ship/Shinzon. I really hope that the Directors version with the one hours they put back makes it better otherwise it is crappy.

No this not a message to or from Spock. The best of time was I got my license on Saturday 11/16/02 and I was planning to drive my car which is below to school on Monday and Thursday as well as driving the car to Los Angeles 11/27 to visit family and then go to SLO to visit my best friend. things didn't turn out the way anyone wanted. I arrived at school at 8:00 am and parked in the parking garage between the second and third floors. I parked the car and then I went to class and locked the car. I came back at 10:00 am to make sure the car was still there and it was. I came back at 1:30 pm to leave and left campus. I arrived at my office and noticed the the back left corner was hit on my bumper. I had to file a police report and  now need to get the car fixed. Boy what a way to start the holidays and what a way to start driving. I will never drive to school again.

My total Rating(3/5) or C:

Last year Paramount released Star Trek: TMP on DVD in a Directors' Edition. It changed the movie not in plot or story but scenes were changed to the way the director (Robert Wise) wanted using CG technology. It made everyone feel like it was a brand new movie. Because STTMP was released with lot's of changes to the picture changed scenes and cut and added stuff prompted Pararmount to release all the rest of the Star Trek Movies in Director's Edition. Just yesterday I received my Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan Director's Edition, I put into my DVD player in our den and waited for the menu to appear, It was a very nice menu just the same in quality as STTMP so I hit play and watched the movie. The sound was the exact same as the previous release that came out late 2000. The picture is the same but they made it a little brighter with the red standing out more. It didn't even feel like they went back to the original film and took it from their but only they took the last DVD and just changed the color ratio and added scenes and a better menu with commentary. The scenes that were added were interesting, their was a added part where Kirk is arguing with the engineers mate and we find out that he is Scotty's cousin. Also Scotty seams to be more emotional when he dies. Their is more arguing between Spock and McCoy  but all and all 4 minutes of added footage is disappointing for the best Star Trek film in franchise history. What also upsets me is Paramount is not going to release a directors cut of Star Trek III: TSFS but only as a Special Collectors Edition, that's very lame. will place links to see all art work mentioned.

  Fall Schedule/Weekly Log (8/5/02)      August 9,2002 9:43 PM

Well I signed up for classes this week, I'm going to take 16 units and lots of GE classes as well as several major requirements. I'm putting a link so you can see it. (SCHEDULE). This week has been interesting, besides changing the website design to make it simpler for me to update regularly and not as cluttered. I first of all started this week on a good note, I got my JAVA midterm back and received a B+ which made me happy and right now in this class I have an A. I went to a meeting downtown Sac for my office which was boring but got paid to do nothing and the office had a almost 3 hour lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe. On Wednesday my office had it's annual picnic at the Hagan Community Park which lasted about 3 hours, also paid and I played several rounds of Crocket and had a good BBQ lunch. Yesterday was a bummer, my leg has been hurting for about a week now since I fell at CSUS. I was taking care of it but with all the activities during the week it was aggravated, so I went to the doctor and they think I sprained my ankle, so I've been off my feet lately. So that was my week and to let all of my loyal readers know that CompUsa fixed their website so now it is $129.99 for Jaguar. One last thing I forgot to mention that made my week better, I GOT A RAISE!

Funny Joke on Web                            August 4,2002 12:04 PM

This is a screen shot from Comp USA's website that shows the pre-order of Mac OS X Jaguar but instead of the price being $129.00 is says the price is $82,402.02 which is not even close to retail. I emailed Comp's webmaster so they can fix the problem. To See the full picture click on the thumbnail.
