OPTIONAL EXTRA CREDIT ASSIGNMENT

Due no later than March 29, 2005

I have decided to give you an opportunity to do some extra credit.  If you’ve had some absences, or if you’re missing some minor assignments or activities toward your participation grade, etc., you may want to do this.

As you may or may not know, March is Women’s History month.  The Women’s Resource Center is putting on some really great events on campus that have to do with some of the issues we’ve been talking about in class.   Please attend one of these events and take good notes while you are there.  Then, do a 2-3 page write-up of what happened, what was discussed, what you saw, how many and what sorts of people were there, etc.  But, beyond the play-by-play, I would also like you respond to the event, particularly as it relates to issues of gender, identity, American culture, the media, etc.  The response can be informal in tone, but I do expect you to type it, and to do your best to create clear, meaningful writing.

Although you may certainly go to as many of these events as you want, I will only give you extra credit for one write-up.  This extra credit assignment can receive a maximum of 5 points (this could bring you from a 75 to an 80, for example, when it comes time to do grades – not a bad jump).   This extra credit assignment can be turned in no later than Tuesday, March 29, although you may turn it in sooner if you wish.
