Benefits To Telecommuting

Telecommuting can benefit both the employee as well as the company, when utilized a few days out of the week. The employees’ benefits are having more time to spend with family due to a flexible work schedule, reduce stress, and lowers cost. There are benefits for not only employees and its company, but as well as for the society, such as the environment. Some benefits for the company are the employees will be more productive and motivated, less money spent on the company, and the lowering of not only absenteeism but also turnover. The society will benefit from telecommuting due to less pollutions, decrease in road repairs, and reduction of gas consumption thereby saving natural resources.  More companies are hopping on the telecommuting train therefore giving major benefits to both the company and the employees.

Telecommuting will give the employees a work schedule that will be more flexible because of the option of working from home rather than going in to work every day. Telecommuting also lowers cost for employees such as gas, car maintenance, and the cost of time that it takes to commute to and from work. Saving money can help motivate the employee which in turn benefits the company. Another benefit that employees will have through telecommuting is the option of working at home a few days out of the week.

According to The American Telecommuting Association there have been studies showing that companies that switch to telecommuting have 10 percent to 15 percent increase in productivity. The company therefore saves money by not needing every employee in the office at one time thus cutting costs on real estate, and also with office furniture and supplies. Telecommuting is gaining popularity because saving money is one of the biggest concerns for a company. There are also benefits for society as a whole.

Telecommuting benefits society as well as the environment because of the reduction in the number of people commuting to work every day. It is cutting down the costs of fuel used by individual which reduced time commuting and reduces pollution. Since employees will be working a few days at home they will be spending less time commuting to work. This in turn will lead to less pollution, reduced gas consumption and road repairs. The reduction of commuting will also help the air quality in the environment. With today’s scare of global warming this is one huge step in the right direction.
