Why Recycling is a ‘Pseudo-Solution’ to Reducing Plastic Waste – The Greanville PostThe amount of plastic that is used and that ends up in the ocean is a serious threat to marine wildlife, which includes animals such as whales and turtles. These creatures often mistake plastic as prey and end up eating it causing their stomachs to be filled with plastic and can lead to internal injuries.

Ultimately, the amount of plastic that ends up in the ocean eventually helps to add more debris to the Great Pacific Garbage Patch , which is often referred to as the 8th continent that lies between Hawaii and California.

Plastic makes the majority of trash simply because of its inability to biodegrade causing it to breakdown into smaller pieces with the help of the sun.
