Possible Ideas to Reduce Gun Violence in the
United States |

Objectives |
S.M.A.R.T. |
||
·
Bring down gun sales by 1-2 million a
year so there are less guns on the street which hopefully decreases deaths by
10% by the end of 2022. ·
Start manufacturing “smart” guns. The
price of making these will increase, which will lead to the sale price to
increase to. Because of the high cost, it will bring down sales overall which
will benefit to society to having less gun violence all around. · Implementing gun safety education programs to the youth and to the public all around the United States. |
· Gun
manufacturers can make less guns as well as raising the prices on guns and
ammo which decreases sales. · Since
there still hasn’t been any smart guns made. The first step to make them is
to complete the research and development for these types of guns. To do so
with the technology, we have in today’s world, we can set this objective to
be completed by mid 2022 to the end of 2022. · To
start off this objective, is to have gun safety and knowledge programs in the
top 50 high ranking cities of gun violence by the end of 2021. After we reach
that goal then it can expand to almost every county in the United States so
the future of the US can have lower gun violence |

Innovative Ideas 1.
Stricter gun laws. Making gun laws
stricter can help bring overall safety to people with and without guns.
Stricter gun laws may be not allowing people to openly carry their guns such
as they do in Arizona or Texas. 2.
Make less guns. Making less guns can be
a great idea on bringing down gun violence. This is because there will be a
shorter supply of guns all around the world which leads to less gun violence
and overall violence. 3.
Use less and less guns overall. The
idea to use less and less guns is part of the second idea. This can help
bring down gun violence since overall, not as many guns are being used. This
can also be caused by having a short supply of guns being made. 4.
Make more shooting ranges so people can
get the urge of shooting, out safely. I think making more shooting ranges can
help get people to shoot their guns as much as they want safely. This can
help get that “urge” to shoot their guns out of their system in a safe way and
help people get target practice as well. Doing this can lead to less people
shooting guns illegally and in unsafe places. 5.
Test the mental state of gun owners. Testing
the mental state of gun owners before and after the purchase of a gun can be
significant in how they plan to use it. If they are unstable then this can
lead to dangerous use of the gun which causes gun violence even if it was
considered an accident. 6.
Make gun owners lock up their guns when
not in use. Locking up guns when not in use can prevent accidents or misuse
of guns. When you lock a gun up in a gun safe this prevents kids or unwanted
users to handle the firearm. 7.
Raise the prices on guns. Raising the
prices on guns can limit the people buying them. It can also make people
think twice on buying the gun because of the high price. With this in play,
it will mean less guns in the public hands and less gun violence overall. 8.
Create “smart” guns. A smart gun in my
opinion can be considered a gun which only lets the proper owner fire the
weapon. This can be managed with a fingerprint scan or eye scan to unlock the
gun and shoot it. With the smart gun it will also be able to track which
bullets are yours before and after shooting. 9.
Put up gunshot sound trackers in populated
areas. Putting up gunshot sound trackers in cities can help benefit areas to
bring down gun violence since it will alert police when shots are being fired
in real time. This will help police get to the scene of the crime quicker and
will also make people not want to fire guns in populated areas. 10. Gun
education. Teaching students at a young age during middle school or high
school can teach them the pros and cons about guns. They can also gain a
positive influence about guns so they can use them safely in the future. |
