waste in the U.S.* |
What is the problem? There
are currently more than 11,000,000 tons of textile waste dumped in U.S. landfills
every year. The number continues to rise as social media markets new fashion
trends. Followers are persuaded to match seasonal trends through buying cheap
and poor-quality clothing from fast-fashion companies. This leads to an
overwhelming amount of textile wastes in the environment. |

Shop
at thrift-stores! Thrift-flipping
is a great way to reduce textile waste. Not only can you get clothes at a
great discount, but you have just saved that piece of clothing from going to the
landfill. Thrift
stores are flooded with clothing donations; therefore, unsold clothes are
transferred to landfills. You can help by buying clothes at thrift stores
instead of fast-fashion companies. The more we reduce textile production, the
greener the earth becomes. |
