Students Overworking Themselves & How to Help with That

by Bao Nguyen

The Problem

Students today are busier than ever when it comes to school and work. This work culture begins when we are young, but the problem starts when students begin to overwork themselves. In the United States most of our society is focused on constantly working to achieve their goals or even dreams. There is absolutely no problem in wanting to work to achieve goals, but this can also lead to stress and negative effects mentally.

Students have even resulted doing loads of work without taking a break. With the effects of stress being a major concern for students this can lead to decreases in productivity, job satisfaction, mental health, and well-being.

The Solution

How do we deal with this issue one may ask? An easy answer would be to take a break, but not everyone would want to randomly in their day. Instead, when one is finally done with their work they should work on a hobby that does not involve their work.

The hobby can be anything, but setting aside time for this is what is key. For example, if a student likes working out they should allocate an hour of their day to that. This allows the student not only to get better at their hobby, but also forget their stresses of the day.
