I was conviced in Ojai, California then raised in Lincoln, California. I have spent a lot of my childhood in San Francisco due to most of my family living there. I'm third generation Italian-Irish Amerian with a Japanese step-grandmother. It's safe to say I come from a culturally diverse family in food, language and celebrations. Being Deaf and having several family members in the family played a large part in my cultural and linguistical upbringing.
I went to California State University, Northridge and got my Bachelors of Arts in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing and Publishing, minored in Fine Arts. I was strongly involved with the Deaf community at CSUN which is known for having the largest Deaf program on the West coast. Later on I went to California State University, Sacramento and got my Masters of Arts in Educational Technology with iMET Cohort 12.
Outside of being on campus, I am... literally outside! I am doing a variety of activities such as rock climbing, kayaking, archery, backpacking, camping, hiking, biking, climbing trees, and etc, just to name a few. Also I can be found just laying in a hammock in retrospect with a book or drawing pad.
I am an artist. I can't avoid it after being born to a family of artists. My father does symbolic art with wood, printed imagery and found objects. My mother is a showcased textile artist with flair in photography. My sister is the painter in the family who has a Ph.D in Molecular Biology in Veterinary Sciences.
I have always been drawn to any kind of medium that is sculptural and finally found a niche in photography, making books with handmade papers, raku and high-fire ceramics and jewelrycraft using materials such as shell, pearls, wood, horn, bone, fine stones and precious metals. One of my jewelry pieces won third place in an international jewelry making contest. Currently, my jewelry is being worn by the public in the form of donations to Deaf Hope’s Glimmer of Hope Gala auction in the Bay Area for the last seven years. It was my dream to showcase my artwork during Sacramento's Second Saturday's Art Walk. That dream came true when I entered Midtown's Art Contest for December 2010 and won the Best of the Show for my photography of Midtown at Barton's Art Gallery.
This is to list only a few of my interests.
