DESCRIPTION:

The website will allow patients to have the ability to explore treatments based on age or gender, connect with doctors via telehealth, and allow access to collaborative care by connecting a primary care provider if they have one (to fax medical records or documents if possible).

More specifically, the design of this website will allow for virtual doctor consultations where they can write prescriptions and prescription refills based on their geographic location within the United States. The virtual consultations will also be regulated to allow referrals for specialized treatments based on the patients accessibility. The first step in collaborative care will work by notifying your provider if you have one to obtain a office fax number to notify and enable the coordination of the patients care. Next, they will collaborate and send documents to your provider to create an optimal treatment plan for you based on you as an individual. The process is similar for if you don’t have a provider. The only difference is that instead of going through a provider they will explain the treatment plan to you and make alterations with your consent as needed. I hope that this service will allow a more accessible provider to provider telehealth approach. Doctors will be able to video chat with patients as well as share documents in real time to better diagnose and give peace of mind.

PROBLEMS/OPPORTUNITIES

Problem 1: On average, 10% (1 in 10 Americans) are without health insurance. Therefore it limits the access to convenient care when they need it. More specifically, there is a limited appointment availability within the office hours.

Problem 2: Geographically, patients face a greater challenge in locating their physician than those in metropolitan or affluent areas. They struggle to find an adequate distance from the patients as well as provider shortages based on location.

Problem 3: There is an issue surrounding the limited education of care sites. Not a lot of people know about them or that they exist within their geographic location. The website can solve this issue by educating the users on surrounding affordable care.
