Coronavirus
(COVID-19) is a new viral infection that spreads from
person-to-person through respiratory droplets. The virus has grown to become
a pandemic as not all people who have the disease show symptoms, making
tracking the spread of the disease very difficult. One of the greatest
challenges in combating this disease is that people who do show symptoms
exhibit respiratory illnesses that can include fever, cough, and shortness of
breath while others can carry and spread the disease even if they don't show
any symptoms at all. This
creates a strain on the healthcare system in the United States as more people
become infected with the disease and more people need to be hospitalized.
Without taking preventative measure, there will be more cases of the
Coronavirus than the healthcare system can handle, so we should work hard to
make sure we take protective measures. Let’s do our part to flatten the curve!
Things We Can Do: § Maintain a social distance of 6 feet
between people when going out in public § Wear a face covering when you go out in
public § Observe state/ government mandated
shelter in place orders § Avoid contact with people who are sick § Make sure to clean and disinfect
surfaces regularly § Wash your hands with soap and water for
20 seconds or use a sanitizer that has at least 60% alcohol in it § Avoid touching your face |
