the future of energy |
|
Climate Change
has been affecting us for many years and is beginning to become a real
problem. From January to October of 2020, it was recorded as the warmest
temperature the planet has measured in over a decade at 1.2 degrees Celsius.
With the help of this webpage, we hope to provide awareness to the small
actions that can positively impact our world’s climate change. The following
list can provide an immediate benefit to our climate and possibly to your own
utility bill: |
1.
Provide your
home with renewable energy sources such as solar panels. |
2.
Set up a
timing system to shut off your heating and cooling systems when you are not
home. |
3.
Upgrade home
appliances to become Energy
Star certified and energy
efficient. |
4.
Attempt to
reduce overall water waste and using colder water to prevent further carbon
pollution. |
5.
Replace all
lightbulbs with LED
Energy Star certified bulbs
that can save energy and money. |
6.
Get rid of
all “energy vampires” and unplug outlets when not in use. |
7.
Possibly
switch out vehicles for a more fuel-efficient car and/or hybrid. |
8.
Start
washing clothes with cold water to reduce energy used for hot water. |
9.
Replace old
windows with new dual-pane windows to keep the house more insulated. |
10.
Spread the
word about possible solutions and keeping awareness for people around you. |
Implementing
these solutions can help provide better tracking to our overall utility bills.
Once action has taken place from the above 10 possible solutions, we can
begin measuring and track their specific changes after improving our energy
efficiency. At the end of the year, we will then be able to fully comprehend
our individual impact of climate change. |
