Global Warming:
The solutions |
|
|
According
to NASA global warming is “the long-term heating of Earth’s climate system observed
since the pre-industrial period (between 1850 and 1900) due to human
activities, primarily fossil fuel burning, which increases heat-trapping
greenhouse gas levels in Earth’s atmosphere.” It is often associated with
climate change which is the “side effects” of the warming. The human
activities have been increasing at unprecedented rate and if this continues
the global warming will continue to accelerate. The impact of the warming has
been visible for all to see. Whether it is the melting of the ice caps or the
increasing amount of forest fires. Personally, I have lived near areas of
forest fire and the worsening air quality that follows it. These conditions
do not only impact our planet but also our health. This ongoing problem of
the global warming has been mentioned by many activists and the most recent
one was Greta Thunberg. She is a young Climate activist that demands change
to have a better world for the future generations. This is what we all want,
a change for the better world. The
internet is an ideal medium for the problem of global warming because its
global, involving everyone. I would like to give everyone access this website
so they can learn some ways that global warming can be alleviated. |

Solutions |

v Invest $5 trillion in clean renewable
energy to fully end the carbon emission in power sectors by 2050. Wind and
solar energy are already being utilized by some around the world but greater
Investment in renewable energy (e.g., wind, water, and solar) will further
motivate more people to utilize this type of energy and reduce carbon
emission, thereby, helping prevent the acceleration of global warming. v In United States, trucks can be replaced
by railways by repairing and upgrading the railway tracks to a
60-mile-an-hour standard by 2024. Trains have a larger carrying capacity and
are faster. Trucks that have much lower carrying capacity and travel greater
distances can be eliminated. More rail links can also be created that reach
inland areas. This will reduce carbon emissions due to transportation. v The government could implement a
water conservation program that could include the issuance of water-use
permits and identify the consumption rate. This program can be implemented by
2023. Saving water is related to global warming because as mentioned by the
United States Environmental Protection Agency, “it takes lots of energy to
pump, treat, and heat water, so saving water reduces greenhouse gas
emissions.” |
