Defeating COVID-19

How Coronavirus has impacted our society and world:

Developing and using a COVID-19 vaccine:

3 S.M.A.R.T. Objectives

As of April 21, 2020, there are over 2,557,000 confirmed cases worldwide and over 177,000 thousand confirmed deaths. That gives us a nearly 7% death rate, which is about 50 times more lethal than the yearly flu.

1)      The U.S. Federal Government should provide $100 billion annually spread evenly to the top 100 verified research companies. The company/research group which successfully develops a vaccine will receive additional government grants. All companies will compete to create a working vaccine as quickly as possible. Under the agreement of receiving the federal funding, no company will be able to patent their vaccine.

Over 25 million Americans have filed for unemployment in the past five weeks. Unemployment rates are now close to unemployment rates during the Great Depression.

2)  Push the research companies to develop a successful vaccine by Summer of 2021. By this time, it is very likely that at least one company if not more will have developed an effective vaccine. The most effective and readily available vaccine will be the one to be mass produced.

The Dow plunged from about 29,000 to about 18,000 from mid-February to late-March. March 16 experienced single handedly the biggest DOW drop in history, of 2,997 points.

3) The last phase is to make sure the vaccine is affordable to everyone. Therefore, it should be absolutely free of charge to each and every person in the U.S. In addition to that it should be mandatory for everyone to receive it by the end of 2021. The goal is to have everyone in the U.S. protected/immune from the virus by the end of next year.

Nearly half of the world’s population, over 3 billion, is under some lockdown order. This includes the U.S., most European countries, amongst many other countries.

Nearly every social event has been cancelled and many entire industries have been shut down. All education has gone online, many jobs are now remote. Movie theaters, bars, beaches, and all similar events have been shut down.
