How networking lands you an internship and a step closer to your dream job after graduation.

Networking & Internships

Networking is a crucial skill that includes interpersonal communication, relationship management, and professionalism. Early on, it could entail approaching or contacting people or organizations that might help you in your professional life. It is important to network because at times it really comes down to whom you know. Connecting with people who are in your field may direct you to resources and opportunities.

Internships are a strong instrument to get your first post-grad employment. An internship provides students with relevant, hands-on work that is connected to their area of study or career interest. A student can explore and enhance their profession while learning new skills through an internship.

According to Resume Builder, more than 50% of students who graduate get jobs thanks to internships or other types of professional experience and a minimum of 70% of businesses that provide internships also issue full-time job offers (Kleiman, 2023) .

How to get started:

*    Utilizing LinkedIn is a great resource to network and connect with professionals, but it is also a way to present yourself to future employers. LinkedIn can help you to receive knowledge to advance your career, you can locate your ideal job or internship, establish, and deepen connections within your area of interest and field.

*    Attending career fairs is beneficial as it is a chance for you to meet employers on a personal level. This is also a great way to ask questions about open positions and get insight into how to stand out from other applicants. Some employers even do interviews on the spot!
