Food Insecurity & Waste
Globally individuals tend
to throw away food leading to waste and improper methods of disposal. The
limited access to food due is only increased as food is wasted from being
thrown out rather than consumed. Food is thrown out rather than given to those
in need leading to major economic and global issues
Methods of improvement
Compost Bins for every household. Compost bins can allow for community
disposal for food that can be properly disposed of and recycled to make
fertilizer and other alternatives. |
Reevaluating relationships of food. Talking about food and formulating healthy
relationships within younger generations so that as they grow up they can continue to have good relations with food
and teach other generations. |
Community Garden. Neighborhood coming together to plant fresh fruits and veggies for the community to
utilize in diners or whenever needed. |
Apps/ programs for restaurants to provide food
to those in need. Restaurants can alert individuals for
discounted or free food that is leftover in the restaurant rather than
throwing away unused food. |
Community Produce Fridges. Community effort to help the community eat.
Individuals can place slightly perishable, non perishable food and produce that people
can take when in need |
Making natural produce more affordable & accessible to all income households. Trends tend to show that in high income neighborhoods have better access to produce, placing the same access for all income
households is important |
