Problems to Try: 2.2, 2.3, 2.4 (Write down your ideas/solutions, and we’ll discuss them in class.)
- You’ll see that 2.2 and 2.3 are theorems, so your goal is to write detailed proofs of them. In contrast, 2.4 is a problem, so your solution to this will be less formal.
- When you work on problems, please only use the material from our book, so for this problem set, all you really have to work with is Definition 2.1. You might know other results about even/odd numbers and maybe have a different definition in your head, but I’m asking you to set that down and just work from the book’s definition.
