Read: Beginning of Chapter 3 up through Section 3.1.2 in our book.
Turn in: 3.9, 3.10, 3.11, 3.14, 3.16, 3.17, 3.20
- On 3.11 think back to Calc 2 and how you convert between rectangular and polar coordinates. You can use what you learned then—you do not need to reprove it.
- I’m not asking you to prove 3.12, but please read it! And you can use it for later problems. In particular, you can use it to help prove Corollary 3.14. Consider using induction to prove 3.14.
- So you know, there are some hints in the back of the book, but please don’t look at them without trying yourself and with classmates first.
Please try (but do not turn in): 3.6, 3.13, 3.18
