Final Project

Math 110B, Spring 2022.

Directions.

  1. If you want, you may work together with one partner on this and turn in the same pdf for both of you.
    • If you do this, please make sure that you truly collaborate on all aspects of the project.
    • To collaborate with Overleaf, one person should start the project, and then use the share option (on the top menu bar), to share it with their partner.
  2. Get the template for this assignment. Here’s how to do it:
    • Go to www.overleaf.com, and make sure you are logged in.
    • In a new window, go here: https://www.overleaf.com/read/vxxqncsrwftn
    • Click on the menu icon in the upper-left and select “Copy Project”.
    • When ask for a name, choose something like “Math 110B - Final Project” and click “Copy”.
    • When this completes you will be back in your own workspace (instead of mine).
  3. Please address all of the orange notes in the final project template (and then delete them when you are done). Make sure to use complete sentences and appropriate punctuation. Also, please make sure to edit for typos.
  4. Click on the “Download PDF” button (to the right of the “Recompile” button). Save the file somewhere you can easily find it. Submit the pdf in Canvas.
  5. Let me know if you have any questions!

Remember, if you have trouble finding the command for a math symbol you want to use, try googling it, email me, or try looking in this Short Math Guide for $\LaTeX{}$.

Rules for the project.

  1. You may freely use any results from our class up through the end of the book, but you should make it clear when you are using a previous result and which result you are using.
  2. You may freely use any results that were covered in your 110A class, but again you should make it clear when you are using a previous result and which result you are using. Please don’t use results from your 110A book that were not covered in your course unless you check with me first.
  3. Please fully justify all of your work.
  4. You CAN work in teams of two. If you do choose to work in a team, there is a short, open-ended team-evaluation to complete at the end of the paper.
  5. You are NOT allowed to consult external sources for the mathematics in the final project, but you can do general research to help write the narrative. If in doubt, ask me.
  6. You are NOT allowed to discuss the mathematics of the project with anyone outside of our class.
  7. Please do not copy the work of your peers or let someone else copy your work.
