The prerequisite exam is a take-home assignment and is due on Friday of the first week (08/30/2024) at 2 pm. You can access the exam through the link provided below. Some questions on this exam address epistemological obstacles that students frequently encounter when working with logical expressions commonly found in mathematical analysis. I encourage you to take this pre-assessment very seriously. It is perfectly fine to visit my office hours to discuss your solutions before submitting them on Friday. A perfect score on the prerequisite exam is required to pass the class.
Note: You may find the following link helpful for reviewing your knowledge of quantifiers.
The lectures are typically given via tablet with some information posted to the course webpage before each lecture. Below, you will find the 'before' notes for each lecture (as they are produced). The 'after' notes will hopefully be posted to the course Canvas page as they are produced. The files are password-protected. You can find the password in item 6 of the email sent to students on Wednesday, 08/14/2024. This introductory email is the first announcement on the course Canvas page.
There will be two midterm exams and a final exam.
If the entire class agrees, I will hold problem sessions almost every Friday from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. If another time on Fridays works better for everyone, we can adjust the schedule accordingly.
