Read: Preface, Sections 1.1–1.2, and beginning of 2.1 (from our book)
- Go here to play Spinpossible: jslyemath.itch.io/spin3x3.
- First you build the board. You can press “Rand” for a random board or press “1->9” for an unscrambled board.
- Second, after building the board, make sure to press “Start” so you can start spinning.
- The main way to play is to unscramble a scrambled board in as few moves as possible.
- Unfortunately, this particular version of Spinpossible does not match the pictures in our book, but I think you’ll get the idea.
Problems to Try: (Write down your ideas/solutions and we’ll discuss them in class) 2.1, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5, 2.8 (from our book)
- Important note: typically we won’t be doing every problem from our book. However, when doing a given problem, you are allowed to utilize the results of all previous problems, even if we didn’t prove them (like 2.6 and 2.7).
