and Some Thoughts...
History: I had a brief exposure to website design when I was hired as a graphic designer for a marketing firm. Upon discovering that I had a degree in English; they put me to work editing their websites originally designed by a company in India. The company in India's poor knowledge of English gave me a lot of work to do. They even had me fill in the blanks with templates. I learned pretty quickly how to navigate Dreamweaver and Photoshop. I took more a liking to Photoshop more than Dreamweaver. I have attempted to build web pages on my own in the past but was only armed with the knowledge of doing it backwards… I didn’t get very far and eventually gotten distracted with other things. Like Photoshop!
Now: This time around, I took the plunge to build the webpage from scratch. I borrowed from old ideas I started long time ago for my own webpage. The webpage you see is just a skeleton but the idea is still there. I wanted to give it a newspaper/book feel when you view the webpage. I had to force myself to tone down the creativity in Photoshop and actually do something in Dreamweaver. Reminding myself it’s not about creativity it’s about content. Keep it basic. After I got everything set up the way I wanted it. Then I began to bounce all over the place, Word for typed content, internet for resources, laundry room for clean clothes, and kitchen for snacks. I only began to remember how to use Dreamweaver. I went a little link crazy and started linking a lot of stuff. But don't remember how to do other things. Took me a while but now I’m done and feeling pretty good about myself. Time for me to upload this site and get my clothes out of the dryer then my day is done… Then I realized that DreamWeaver and learning how to build web pages through this hands-on assignment is one big Advanced Organizer! I look forward to learning how to use Dreamweaver more and better!
